Uncover What Fast Internet Access is & Appreciate Watching Movies Over the Net
Written by Rafida Galinis
Friday, 11 July 2008

Broadband is ultra fast speed internet access, and is far faster than super slow dial-up access over a modem. If you yourself are reading this broadband guide then you are assumably thinking at purchasing internet access for the first time, or seeking to increase your internet speed to broadband.

The primary advantage of fast internet access is users are able to watch telly over the net, this has became truly popular with the BBC launching their new website which will allow surfers to see the most current shows of Cheers. With fast internet access you yourself can also download classical music & Hollywood movies at a much higher speed than modem access.

Broadband is uncomplicated to hook up. The 1 st thing surfers will need to do is sign up with an ISP, also known as an Internet Service Provider, and the company will supply you with a connection via your home connection. If you yourself currently have a broadband provider then please make sure surfers try an internet provider comparison service for unbiased advice and guidance on the best supplier deals. You may quickly see the best deals with an internet provider comparison service by simply typing in your town & then the site will return a list of high speed internet packages in your location. You yourself will be under no obligation to sign up with any fast broadband while people look through the supplier offers. Compare broadband packages and deals with a comparison site.

Once people have signed up with your ISP the broadband business will arrange a date for turning on the broadband & supply you with any necessary routers and connection software. The wireless routers and CD software might well come with step by step instructions and most broadband corporations will probably offer customers tech support if needed.

Once users have successfully connected to the worldwide web people might well start to revel in the quick speeds of internet access. If users are going to get music, television programmes such as Friends or scary movies please be aware of any download limits you yourself may have on your www package. Classical music and telly downloads such as 24 might often take up most of your ‘download allocation’ as the music and telly shows are massive in file size.

Digital Versatile Disc Recorders in general acknowledge one of these two, every so often both, although in practical terms they are more or less one and the same. Blank discs are cheap and recordings can be used in almost every system. DVD recorders with either an analogue and a digital receiver can hook-up to a set-top box. Visit the Digital Direct website and grab yourself Cheap DVD recorders today!

Digital Versatile Disc recorders are going through a change, adding a digital Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) tuner if it has a tuner as permitted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Digital Versatile Disc recorders are swiftly taking over from VCRs as the chosen way to back up your desired TV channels and movies. With Digital Versatile Disc recorders you can view regular DVDs, listen to audio CD's and play back your taped discs.

Although in the previous few of years they have substantially decreased in cost and are at present accessible economically to the majority of people.

Mignardise and Tatting
Written by Hilary Boyes
Sunday, 11 May 2008

Materials: Messrs. Walter Evans and Co.'s tatting cotton No. 40; fine mignardise braid.

Patterns formed of mignardise and tatting are of quite new style, and look very pretty. The insertion is easy to work by the following process:--Make first a circle, as follows: 1 plain stitch, 2 double, 1 purl, 6 double, 1 purl, 2 double, 1 plain; fasten the cotton on to one side of the mignardise, at the distance of about five-eighths of an inch, by taking 2 loops of it together; work a second circle at a short distance from the first, and so on.

When the strip of insertion is sufficiently long, work in the same manner on the other side of the mignardise. This kind of work is destined to become very popular, and nothing can be more light and graceful than the union of mignardise and tatting.

Linen Bag for Cotton.

Materials: Fine linen, 6 inches square; Messrs. Walter Evans and Co.'s tatting cotton No. 40.

The bag seen in illustration No. 30 is meant to keep the cotton for working a couvrette; it consists of a round piece, measuring 6 inches across, which is hemmed all round, and trimmed with a tatted lace. It is drawn together at top.

Tatting Insertion.

Materials: Messrs. Walter Evans and Co.'s cotton No. 30.

The insertion shown in illustration No. 31 is composed in two similar halves. Begin the first in the following way:--10 double, 1 purl, 3 double, 1 purl, 10 double, join the stitches into a circle, and work a second similar circle at a distance of one-third of an inch; instead of the 1st purl, draw the cotton through the 2nd purl of the first-worked circle; leave an interval of one-eighth of an inch, and repeat the two rounds till the insertion is sufficiently long.

Then tat round the pieces of cotton which join the two rounds, work round the longest 10 double, and round the shortest 4 double, inserting the shuttle alternately once upwards and once downwards, but for the rest proceeding as in the common button-hole stitch. When the first half is completed, work the second in the same way, and fasten it on to the first with the purl.

Tatting Insertion.

Materials: Messrs. Walter Evans and Co.'s cotton No. 30.

The pretty effect of the insertion shown in illustration No. 32 is obtained by means of longer and shorter purl. Work as follows:--Join 9 double into a circle, 1 long purl, 3 double, 1 long purl, 4 double *.

After an interval of five-eighths of an inch, begin the large figure of the pattern: 2 double, 1 small purl, 2 double, draw the cotton through the last purl of the small circle, 2 double, drawn through the 1st purl of the same circle, 2 double, 1 small purl, 2 double, 1 long purl, 2 double, 1 small purl, 2 double, repeat 6 times more from *, and draw up.

After an interval of five-eighths of an inch comes another small circle: 4 double, draw the cotton through the last purl of the large figure, 3 double, draw the cotton through the next long purl of the same figure, 2 double, 1 long purl, 3 double, 1 long purl, 4 double. Repeat the pattern for the length of insertion required. The threads which join the small circles are worked over with 7 double in the manner described above, only the cotton at the principal figure must be left loose the width of a straw, so as to imitate a long purl.

Complete the insertion from illustration by tatting round the small circles of 16 double on the other side (but in the contrary direction), form no purl, but draw the cotton through the long purl of the large figure; the threads which join the 2 circles are likewise drawn through the middle long purl of the large figure; this thread is then tatted over with 7 double, like the opposite outer edge.

Tatted Square or Diamond.

Materials: If for couvrettes, Messrs. Walter Evans and Co.'s tatting cotton No. 20, or crochet cotton No. 4; tatting-pin No. 3. For d'oyleys, tatting cotton No. 50; tatting-pin No. 2. For headdresses, tatting cotton No. 80; tatting-pin No. 2.

The square is composed first of nine 4-branched patterns, worked in 3 rows of 3 patterns each, and joined on one to the other with purl. Each pattern consists of 4 branches close to each other, and each branch consists of 7 double, 1 purl, 7 double; when the 4 branches of one pattern are completed, cut off the cotton, and fasten both ends together so as to form a small circle in the centre.

Then work a second pattern, which is fastened on to the first and second branches of the first pattern, instead of working the purl stitch; work a third pattern, which is fastened in the same manner on to the second pattern. Then work 2 more rows exactly the same as can be seen in illustration.

*For the border of the square, fasten the cotton on the first purl of the first pattern, work 4 double, 13 purl divided by 2 double, 4 double, draw up the stitches close, fasten the cotton again on to the same purl of the first pattern *, and work the following scallop at a short distance:--4 double fastened on the last purl of the preceding circle, 10 purl divided by 2 double, 4 double, draw up the stitch, leaving an interval of two-fifths of an inch between the first and the last; fasten the cotton on to the next purl which joins two patterns, repeat twice more from *, and continue to repeat from *

Stock 101 Homework is a Must for any Stock Investor
Monday, 21 April 2008

The most important stock 101 rule that any investing analyst, planner or teacher could teach you is:  DO YOUR STOCK 101 HOMEWORK!  In order to be a successful beginner stock investor, everything starts and ends with your stock 101 homework.  You can’t just go blindly into a company without the appropriate stock knowledge.  Doing that wouldn’t make any sense.  This might be a simple idea, but if you want to be a successful beginner stock investor, there is no way getting passed it.

If you have kids, you know about the homework they have to do and the countless hours they are wasting.  Obviously, you can’t tell them that because you want them to learn the variety of subjects out there so they can find the career that most interests them.  But we can all relate that we’ve wasted so many hours throughout our childhood in subjects from math to history.  And that relation can affect how you feel about stock 101 homework.
Don’t let your feelings obstruct you from doing your stock 101 homework! Obtaining the right stock knowledge is vital in your investing success.

For those who still don’t believe in stock 101 homework, you’re probably thinking a couple of things that that convinces you to your contradiction:
1) “If I buy and hold a stock long enough, it’ll come back up.”
2) “I don’t have the time to be that diligent.”

The first thought is completely false.  You can’t count on every stock to rise when it’s supposed to rise just like you can’t predict every stock to fall when it’s suppose to fall.  If your stock knowledge reflects this statement, stop.  Every stock 101 guide’s first rule is to do your stock homework before buying or selling any equity.

The second statement, if true to you, is something you might need to ponder over for a while.  The one thing you need when investing in the stock market is time.  You can’t be a successful beginner stock investor without time.  Jim Cramer, a great and famous financial analyst and stock 101 teacher says that every beginner stock investor should do at minimum one hour of stock homework per stock held in your portfolio.  And that number only increases if you want to make sure you absorb quality stock knowledge.

Don’t be careless.  You won’t win by buying stocks without the appropriate stock knowledge learned.  Hey, if you don’t have the time, there is no use in trying to take care of your own finances.  You’ll end up losing all your money.  Every beginner stock investor needs to know this because it’s important to understand how time consuming investing can be and how harmful it can be if you don’t have the time to obtain the right stock knowledge.  If you’re a beginner stock investor, examine yourself and make sure that you can handle the hours involved gaining stock knowledge in order to be a solid stock investor.

If you found this stock 101 rule helpful and wish to learn more about beginner stock investing, please visit my website.  You’ll find valuable stock knowledge on my website including stock investing rules and tips that I’ve learned from my 20 years in the stock market.  Click here for stock 101.

Carnival Glass: Beautiful And Valuable
Written by Yoli Diaz
Friday, 07 March 2008

At the time of introduction in late 1907 the carnival glass was called as Iridescent Ware. However, people started using the name carnival glass only after collectors in the 1950s began to refer to it as such. This innovative glassware made in highly patterned moulds had a vivid metallic sheen of changing hues on pressed glass articles. Iridescent Ware got the metallic sheen from a special spray of metallic salts on the glass while it was very hot.

Carnival glass is made as both functional and ornamental objects. This is an inexpensive pressed glass and found in a wide spectrum of colors. Sometimes glass workers refer this as dope glass because the process of applying the iridescent coloring to the surface is called doping. This was made in over 150 patterns and many different pieces from the year 1907 but since it did not command the prices expected it was subsequently discounted.

This glass is available in many translucent colors like primarily amethyst, marigold, coblat, green and red. It is also made in opaque white which is also referred to as milk glass. This glass was also availale in semi-transparent or translucent pale green and was named as Vaseline or uranium glass before the harmful effects of radiation were known. Vaseline glass and uranium glass have small amount of uranium salts which make faint green glass glow on reaction with UV light.

Millersburg glass Company is one of the largest producers of this kind of glass. Crystals were the first glass products of the company. But they decided to go for iridescent glassware to ride the wave of enthusiasm. So, during the early 1910, the line of Radium Glassware was brought out by Millersburg glass Company.

Carnival glass is a collector's item. Prices of these glasses vary wildly from a few dollars to thousands of dollars. Carnival glass has become antique glass collectible and there is a good active market for it.

The identification of the glass of carnival is as an operation much difficult one. Great part of the suppliers has not included the mark of the creator in their product, while the others have made therefore only for the part of the time that have produced the glass. In order to identify this glass, one must bind together the models, colors, splendor, edges, thickness and other factors from catalogue of the old supplier, other known examples, or the other material of reference. From many suppliers the produced near copies of the popular models of theirs available again, identifying it are a challenge also for an expert.

Carnival glass is made as both functional and ornamental objects. This innovative glassware made in highly patterned moulds has a vivid metallic sheen of changing hues on pressed glass articles. This glass is available in many translucent colors like primarily amethyst, marigold, cobalt, green and red. It is also made in opaque white, which is also referred to as milk glass. Prices vary widely depending on their quality and availability. It has become an antique glass collectible. To figure out who made the glass one has to match, patterns, colors, sheen, edges, thickness etc. One of the biggest producers is millersburg glass company in Ohio.

The Adventure of Collecting Dollar Coins
Written by Pat Dunner
Thursday, 28 February 2008

Many people enjoy coin collecting as a hobby, particularly collecting and trading silver dollars. These days, silver dollars coins are quite rare. Some people are quite excited when they find one and consider it a treasure. Others see them as a dollar and have no problem spending it.

In the late 19th century, a silver dollar known as the Morgan dollar was put into use. This characterizes of an eagle on one side and the face of Miss Liberty on the other side. Due to the weedy looks of the eagle in the coin, it is sometimes referred to as the "buzzard dollar". The production of Morgan dollar coins stopped in 1921, but even now they are worth collecting.

There are some people trade coins to enhance their collection. Collectors may have a coin that is needed to complete a collection, so they will inquire about what they need from other coin collectors and offer up what they have. To trade dollar coins, one needs to possess a rare coin of your own. Most collectors have multiple dollar coins, including duplicates, so they never lose the coin for their own collection.

Silver dollar coins can be beautiful. Ones made of almost pure silver are worth more and are obviously better looking than those made of mostly copper. The United States Government has issued commemorative silver dollar coins, as well, which are released for limited times. Collectors usually save a few of these coins to trade or keep once they are no longer being produced.

A coins value increases the older and rarer it is. If you have an extremely rare coin, it does not matter what condition it is in. The condition of a coin will matter more if it is less rare, and the better it looks, the more money it will bring in. A Morgan Dollar that is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition commands a lot of money because it is both a rare coin and in perfect condition.

The best thing to do if you are considering collecting and trading silver dollar coins, is to do lots of research. As with anything, the more knowledgeable you are about the subject, the more power you will have when working with coins.

Collecting silver dollar coins is a popular hobby shared by many. Circulated between the late 19th century and 1921, morgan dollar coins are sought after due to their rarity. The United States issues commemorative coins for limited periods, increasing their value. Many people trade dollar coins in order to get better coins. Older and rarer coins are worth more, also if it has not been in circulation or is in mint condition it will be very valuable. Conducting research into which coins you are thinking about collecting can help you manage your collection more effectively and gain the coins you wish to collect.

Car Stereo Cd Changers, Speakers And Amplifiers
Written by Phil Ames
Wednesday, 27 February 2008

Audio cables are, without a doubt, one of the most overlooked components of audio systems. The speakers themselves get a lot of the publicity. Subwoofers, too, are highly prized, with each brand amassing armies of devoted followers ready to defend its unique capabilities against any competitor. They will also, no doubt, tell you the exact amplifiers, mixers, and dozens of other parts that you should consider. These, however, are not the only products you will need.

The veins of an audio system are its cables. Without the cables connecting each component your system will not produce any sound. Many people select low quality audicables which will result in poor sound quality and dissatisfaction. Selecting high quality audio cables will insure that your audio system work properly. Make sure to make the right choice when selecting audio cables.

There are several things to consider when you are purchasing cables. Among these considerations are; wire gauge, connector type, and brand name. There are other important factors but they are more for the extremely adept technical people. If you are uncertain about anything, ask a professional for help.

A measure of the amount of current you cables are capable of carrying is known as wire gauge, which also tells you how large in diameter they are. When looking a wire gauge remember that the higher the gauge the smaller the wire, and when buying audio cables an extremely high wire gauge is not a necessity. Especially if your speakers do not require a great deal of energy, you will be wasting your money on a wire with a high gauge.

You will also want to buy a cable with the correct connector type. There are many kinds of audio cable connectors out there, but not all of them will be compatible with every product. Check your speakers and other devices to find out what kind of connector they require. When choosing one, be sure that it seems sturdy and well made.

Finally, it is always best to choose audio cables made by a respected manufacturer. This is a common sense precaution. While less widely known companies are not necessarily bad, major companies have spent years building up a reputation for selling quality products. Luckily, there are several reputable brands, including toslink audio cables.

We're afraid that we've made shopping for cables sound like much more work than it is. It's generally easy to find a cable that will suit your needs. Make sure that it does suit your needs and improve your sound; if it doesn't, you can replace it whenever you feel the need. After a little trial and error, you will have exactly the cables you need to optimize your system. Have fun!

Though speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers and the like in an audio system get the most attention, a high quality audio cable is also equally important for superior performance. Some of the factors to consider when buying audio cables are wire gauge, brand name and connector type. The audio cable connectors should be of the right technical specifications. The wire gauge is the cable's width, which should be selected based on the current carrying capacity needed by the audio system. Well known brands like toslink audio cables offer a wide range of quality products to choose from.

Ice Climbing Overview
Written by Bill Brennan
Tuesday, 26 February 2008

Ice climbing, similar in technique to rock climbing, is a sport where the climber must ascend sloping ice formations. Ice climbing is divided into two categories, Alpine Ice, generally found in mountainous environments, is an ice formed by frozen precipitation. Water Ice, found beneath water flows, or on cliffs, is an ice formed as implied, the freezing of a water flow. The consistency of either ice ranges from hard to soft, or can be either tough or brittle. Consistency varies dependant upon the surrounding weather and temperature conditions.

Another shared aspect, like Rock Climbing, Ice climbing too has grading called Waterfall Grading, which was adapted from the Waterfall grading system used in the Canadian Rockies. This Canadian Rockies grading system focuses on the pitch steepness and not the more subjective aspects (i.e. technical difficulty, feeling of difficult). Ice grading, over other Media of climbing, is subjective and tend not to mirror the degree of complexity of a route at any given time due to the diminishing intricacy after each ascent. Each climb causes cleaning of the chandeliered ice as well as the forming of hooks caused by the tools used, making tool placement and cleaning much less difficult.

The equipment used varies upon the degree of slope and ice texture. For glacier travel, general-purpose crampons (outdoor footwear made from spikes, worn on boots to provide traction on snow and ice) are generally used, however for steep, long slopes or vertical climbing, specialized crampons for front pointing are better advised for a safe ascent.. Front pointing is the technique when the climbers must kick their legs forward to incorporate the crampons front points into the ice, and swinging the axe into the ice above their heads. On low angled slopes, one can simply use an ice axe to notch the steps. On vertical climbs, the specialized crampons and ice axes, better known as ice tools when relating to vertical climbs are used in conjunction with front pointing.

Knowledge and techniques imperative to the ice climber are lowering, tying in, leading, abseiling, belaying and the foundation of all safe climbs, rope systems! The single, used for straight climb routes, is the most commonly used system in the world today. Double, also often used in climbing, is more flexible than the single system. The method not commonly used in climbing is the twin rope system. The twin system uses a single rope system with two twin ropes.

Lowering is most executed method of getting down when the belayer is at the base of the vertical wall ensuring a safe descent. Tying in, attaching your rope to the climbing harness using the tie in knot figure of eight follow through. After tying in, a belay loop will contain the belay device as needed. The figure of eight follow through knot is identical to the figure of eight loop except for the method of tying.

Leading refers to taking point and leading the climb which requires placing protection while ascending until reaching the top. Abseiling or rappelling uses a single rope to descend, either after a finished climb or to explore new routes. On a running belay, the leader of the climb puts protection and clips the rope through the next climber will remove the protection. Fixed belays require a belayer, a belay anchor, and points of protection. In conclusion, for those whom will, Ice Climbing can be rewarding, but seek the training from the pros before attempting the ice.

If all this sounds a little too strenuous then maybe Billiards is more your style, all you need is a few billiard tips and you will be on your way to winning.

Ruby Glass Dinnerware, For Special Occasions
Written by Dara Kahn
Wednesday, 20 February 2008

Ruby glass dinnerware generate a stunning presentation, rivaled by very few other china types. Their elegant, crisp

coloration and rainbow shine reflect light in a truly remarkable way. A dinner furnished with this glassware is a hard thing

to forget.

Ruby glass dinner ware gives a sense of sophistication and royalty which your guests will surely notice. If you select a

china set with dishes and drinkware which is entirely ruby coloured or specially accented with crimson inserts, the

dinnerware will improve your menus.

Ruby glass dinnerware is not only extremely exquisite, but it is also very easy and convenient to replace a piece should the

need arise. For example, if a carnival glass tumbler is accidentally broken by one of your guests, most retailers can quickly

find a replacement piece from their on-site inventory. The availability of such replacement options is important in order to

ensure the continued beauty of your collection, and ruby dinnerware sets are unique and fascinating without being too rare.

Even though ruby place settings and charger plates can easily become the focus of your dining tablescape, many hosts will

find it equally rewarding, in the decorative sense, to accent their ruby glass dinnerware collections with pieces of green

glass dinnerware. Or perhaps in celebration of America's Fourth of July holiday, a red collection can quickly and easily be

paired with blue accents for a patriotic look! Any holiday or time of the year can be made more attractive with the

appropriate ruby dinnerware sets.

This design is especially good and welcoming during winter holidays at Christmas time. The traditional green and red motif

gets a much loved update when you showcase the sparkling glass with crackling fire and glowing candles. Your guests will

realise it and appreciate your decorations while sitting down at the table with you.

The most important thing about selecting dinnerware is that it is meant to be used. Many people purchase great china, only to

lock it away in a cabinet somewhere, never to be used, which misses the whole point. Beautiful ruby glass dinnerware, or any

other fine dinnerware, should be served upon to create memories your family will always remember.

The rich, stunning look of ruby glass dinnerware is unparalleled. However, ruby glass is not only beautiful, it is also easy

to find. Even if a guest breaks a carnival glass tumbler, you can quickly obtain a replacement piece. You can also accent

your ruby glass with other pieces, such as green glass dinnerware. This provides a particularly pleasing effect for Christmas

celebrations, as the traditional red and green looks especially festive when combined with a crackling fire. Since the whole

reason for having fine dinnerware is to create lasting memories, don't hide it away in your china cabinet. Instead, share it

with your loved ones for special occasions.

What Are the Drawbacks of Metal Roofing? Part 2
Thursday, 01 November 2007

Metal roofing is becoming one of the most popular choices in roofing. A metal roofing system offers many benefits, such as durability, low maintenance, and energy savings as well as insurance savings. But, there are some disadvantages to metal roofing. It is important to weigh both the benefits and the disadvantages in order to make the right choice for your home.

As discussed in Part 1 some of the drawbacks include initial cost; noise; dents and painting. Here are a few more drawbacks associated with a metal roofing system:

Remodeling – If you add on to your home or remodel your home in the future, it may be hard to match the material, design, and color of the metal roofing system that you find today. This is usually not a huge concern, but one to consider before making the decision to purchase a metal roofing system.

Hazards – A metal roofing system can present a few weather hazards – the most common hazard is snow falling from the roof once it has accumulated. Other hazards may be slipping on the slick surface if it becomes necessary to walk on the roof in order to perform plumbing or other repairs. Caution should always be used when walking on a roof, and especially on a metal roof that presents a slicker surface than shingles.

In most cases, the advantages of a metal roofing system far outweigh the disadvantages. Just as with any long term investment, you should weigh the benefits against the disadvantages in order to find the best solution for you.

More home improvement articles can be found at http://www.flooringandcarpets.com including an informative piece on how to install laminate flooring.

What Are the Drawbacks of Metal Roofing? Part 1
Thursday, 01 November 2007

There are many reasons to consider a metal roofing system as a long-term investment for your home. As with most any choice you make, there are also some drawbacks that need to be taken into consideration in order to decide if the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. Here are a few of the drawbacks associated with a metal roofing system:

Initial Cost – This is by far the biggest drawback of a metal roof. The cost of installing a metal roof on your home can range from $150-600 per square, which is the equivalent of 100 square feet. To initial cost is offset by savings on energy bills, insurance premiums, and the fact that the roof will usually last for the life of the home. If you are planning to live in the home for years, you will benefit from these savings and be able to recoup the initial expense. However, if you are only planning to live in the home a couple of years, you may not benefit directly from the installation of a metal roof.

Noise – To some people, the rain pelting on a metal roof is a drawback. Others may find it relaxing. Personally I love the sound of rain on a metal roof just as I love the sound of little feet on hardwood floors. Especially in areas prone to hailstorms, a metal roof can be quite noisy. However, there are ways in which the noise levels can be minimized. Thicker material is more expensive but can help to cut down on the noise caused by rain and hail. Insulation and plywood sheathing can also help to minimize the noise.

Dents – While most metal roofing is guaranteed to be dent-resistant, there is the possibility of the roof becoming dented in areas that are prone to hailstorms that produce large hailstones. Walking on the roof may also dent the material, although some metal roofing systems are guaranteed not to dent. Be sure to check with the supplier to learn which systems come with that guarantee.

Painting – Almost all metal roofing systems are guaranteed for a number of years. However, painted surfaces eventually peel, chip, fade, or become scratched from the normal wear and tear of protecting the inside of your home from the elements. Painting may be a necessary after a number of years in order to keep your roof looking its best.

More drawbacks of a metal roofing system will be discussed in the next article – Part 2.

Ways to feel great over 50
Tuesday, 02 October 2007

Being over fifty may leave you feeling as though you are no longer wanted, needed or desirable but that certainly is not true. Maybe you were a wife, husband, mom or dad, brother or a sister. You married young and you spent your life caring for your family by cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and tending to boo boo’s and little tears. Now you have no one to clean house for or to expect to burst through the door in excitement from school. You have to wonder what you will be doing for the rest of your life.

Being older does have its advantages though. You finally have grandchildren that you can spoil and make up for all those toys that you were unable to buy your child. Grandchildren can put a smile on your face when nothing else can. To see them makes your heart feel alive again, especially if you are close to your children. Watching your grandchildren grow up is certainly a great way to spend your time when you are 50+.

Having a positive attitude on life will make it easier to get through the time that you are alone or may otherwise feel sad and depressed. Depression affects people over the age of 50 and can cause thoughts of suicide and withdrawal. Laughter is the best medicine and it doesn’t cost you a co-pay every month. Socialization is very important to reduce the chance of depression. Being part of a group is just as important now compared to when you were young. You need to socialize to feel human.

There are a few things you can do to enhance your lifestyle when you are over 50. This could be

- Aromatherapy, which can help you to feel reconnected after a long day. Aromatherapy can leave you feeling calm, relaxed, invigorated and secure. Use a warm bath to relax sore muscles and light an aroma candle to relax you even more.

- Deep breathing is great for allowing the body to carry the right amount of oxygen to the brain and major organs.

- Yoga or any daily exercise can be great for keeping the body healthy and help to control weigh gain. Yoga breathing exercises will also help reduce stress.

- Message Therapy. Treat yourself to a message to relieve muscle aches and pains and to feel better

- Proper diet will also help. When you live alone you may find that you don’t fix healthy meals or complete meals. Now is your time and you can have a gourmet meal without worrying about anything or anyone else so enjoy.

- Dance. You can waltz around the room or go out dancing at night. Dancing is a form of exercise that can improve your posture, and keep your muscles from aching. You can have fun and enjoy yourself when you dance.

- Gardening is also a form of relaxation.

Stay close to friends and family but leave some time for yourself. Enjoy life a little more but in a different way than when you were younger. Now is your time to be you, not mom, or wife or husband, but you only.

Annuity Life Care Plans
Tuesday, 25 September 2007

As someone involved in investing for retirement one of the options that’s fallen by the wayside is the annuity program. Annuities used to be the only life care program available; the creation of Independent Retirement Accounts and Roth IRAs and employer managed 401(k) programs.

When factoring the three variables of Security, Liquidity and Rate of Growth, most annuities are a good mixture of assets and are an excellent asset preservation tool for a retiree.

Annuities are purchased from investment brokers, who take your purchase price and put them into a low-risk investment pool. With several billions in aggregated investments, these can get excellent rates of returns. Most annuities are invested into state and municipal bonds or funds of state and municipal bonds, with some anchored by Treasury bonds. When you purchase an annuity, the investment broker will run through actuarial tables, factoring in your age, your health risks, family status and a bunch of other factors. From the perspective of the investment counselor, the purpose of an annuity is to make a small profit for the company and there are several factors tied into this.

In terms of Liquidity, annuities are not particularly liquid. You’ll get a monthly payment for as long as the annuity runs and that payment will never adjust for inflation. When purchasing an annuity, keep in mind that with a 4% inflation rate (roughly what the US has as an average), prices will double by the rule of 72. Divide 72 by the inflation rate and you’ll find out how long it’ll take for prices to double. This translates to a doubling every 18 years. (As a cross check, if you look at the price of a hamburger now, versus what it was in the late ‘80s, you’ll see that this holds true decently well.) As a result, look at how much the annuity will be paying you towards the end of the term as opposed to the beginning, to get the best utility for your own use.

Annuities tend to have low rates of growth; in fact, they’re not so much a wealth generation investment tool as a tool to disburse your wealth while you’re freed from the hassle of managing it. Most annuities have interest rates to preserve the payments in the realm of 4-6%. This works well for hedging against inflation, but not for generating new wealth from your existing assets. As the final step in getting the benefits of a retirement portfolio annuities are one of many tools worth considering.

Annuities do have the benefit of being mildly tax deferred. The interest they accrue before they mature isn’t taxable until you start pulling money out of them. Annuities are also worthwhile purchases if you know you’re going to have recurring monthly medical expenses. It’s a comforting feeling to know that your health care each month is covered.

Like all investments, annuities are tools and not panaceas. Carefully weigh all your options when considering one.

There are many different recipes for a great cup of coffee and variations on how they are served.
Sunday, 09 September 2007

There are many different recipes for a great cup of coffee and variations on how they are served. The cooking methods require specific kitchen gadgetry to help make the best rated coffees. There are different types of cappuccino, espresso and coffee makers on the market. Each of these appliances is designed to make specific coffee types. Cappuccino is a rich, dark coffee whose recipe originated in Italy. It is a milder version of Espresso, but not as light as “city” coffee. Espresso is made by high heat and pressure which produces a thicker and more potent cup of coffee. This is usually served in much smaller cups and quantities because of how strong it is.

What You Should Know About Hummingbird Nests
Tuesday, 04 September 2007
Hummingbirds are migratory birds, meaning they travel to warm locations when winter comes. When the hummingbirds travel from their winter home to their warm-weather home, the males go first. This is probably because the males want to stake out the best territory in order to attract females. Also, the females don't want to migrate until the nectar-producing flowers they need for sustenance are in bloom. The males not only arrive sooner, they leave first. This leaves more food for the hatchlings. If you're looking for hummingbird nests look for hummingbird females.

Find your Niche - Specialize in Unique Craft Items
Written by Chad Cook
Sunday, 11 March 2007
These days there are more people than ever trying to make their living as crafters. Whereas a few years ago, there might have been one or two people selling polymer jewelry at a local craft show, now there are probably at least five or six or even more than that. With so many people producing the same kinds of crafts it is often difficult to make your products stand out. The best way to distinguish your self as a crafter is to specialize in a unique craft item.

Already you're thinking; how I can specialize in a unique craft item when I can't even think of one unique craft item! It can be daunting at first to try and come up with an original idea. It is a process that takes some time, a bit of research, lots of experimentation and a little bit of luck.
